Is a BAL Report required?
When a construction is within a Designated Bushfire Prone Area a BAL Report prepared according the Australian Standard AS3959-2018 is required. To check if a property is within a BPA - click here to locate the property; select Designated Bushfire Prone Area from menu. (Courtesy VicPlan - Select ‘Layer List’/Bushfire).
What does SEIS provide?
After disastrous bushfires in Victoria in 2009, and subsequent changes to regulations, South East Inspection Services created a BAL Reporting software program that enabled Registered Building Inspectors the ability to provide a simple but comprehensive single page report determining the BAL Level, according to the Australian Standards 2018.
